Mireille Thrasybule-
St-Cyr
Information about the artist
Professional visual artist in
the following medium: acrylic, oil and water colour.
The visual arts are art forms that focus on the creation of works which are primarily visual in nature, such as painting, photography, printmaking, and filmmaking.
Mireille St-Cyr began painting art at age 12 and developed an eclectic style. Her life, much like her art has taken many different directions.
Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Mireille was the 8th of 12 children. She became a teacher in her adult years and founded an elementary school in Haiti before
moving to North America in the 1960's. She eventually settled in Montreal where she raised her 4 children and taught high school for 25 years.
In 1999, her
husband, Edwing St-Cyr died of cancer and Mireille moved to Toronto, Ontario to renew her career as a visual artist and be closer to her children and grandchildren. Her incredible
journey is one of hope. Mireille has generously donated her paintings throughout her career to several charitable organizations such as Visionled.
She mastered colours and styles while studying Rembrandt and the French
Impressionist painters. Her favourite were Cezanne, Monet, Van Gogh and
Degas. Though she studied the Impressionists, she also dabbles in abstracts, "tachiste" then
"splashiste".

Artistic approach
Always seeking to create beauty through
colours, landscapes and shapes, she can find a way to bring us into
space and everything is new. She redefines our paradigms when it comes
to art and its essence. She somehow changes the world her way by her
artistic presence. Splash, one of her last exhibits, featured new
spatial and winter sceneries full of nuances, only seen by the artist. Her earliest
works concentrated on depicting and study of black culture through Art,
which still fascinates her to this day.
